Fates Worse Than Death relevant comic: Starve

I just got finished reading the first trade paperback of Starve by Brian Wood. It takes place in a near future Manhattan with a messed up environment and increased wealth disparity. It revolves around an occasionally violent reality-TV cooking show (like a cross between Iron Chef and Hunger Games).

Brian Wood has written FWTD-relevant comics in the past (DMZ, which is about a Manhattan which has become a demilitarized zone in an American civil war, and The Massive, which is about the crew of an extreme-environmental-activism ship in an environmentally-messed up future). His writing seems to keep getting better.

At some point (I forget where) I wrote about cooking as a skill in ORC that could be used simply (one simple skill role) or could be made complicated enough to base an entire game session around. I believe the scenario was something like a FWTD serial killer has kidnapped one of the PC' family members and is going to kill them unless the PCs make him the best meal he has ever had. The plot of Starve is not exactly like that, but close enough to make me feel like Starve is the comic book equivalent of the scenario I wrote about.

I just finished reading a manga that isn't in the Fates Worse Than Death universe, but that's probably only because the author has never heard of it.

It's called Holyland, and the main character starts as a shut-in who has developed a surprising skill on his own while in his room.
Oh, and it's a good representation of how I imagine combat in FWTD would look like, no two opinions that the author did his research.

Sounds interesting. I can't seem to find a version of Holyland that has been translated into English.
